Sisters to Albany, OR

View from the breakfast table at Keith and Terry's house in Sisters. Again, wanting to linger, but the road called.

The divide. Clear skies to the east of the Cascades and clouds to the west. Dry, wet. Ponderosa Pine, Douglas Fir.

Manzanita in bloom a little east of the Santiam Pass.

Heading to the west side of the Cascades.

A smaller old growth Douglas Fir, maybe 7' in diameter.

White trilliums in bloom. Again, feeling like I was back in the east, lush and green.

Driving down out of the mountains.

More feeling like back home - wild strawberry flower.

A kind of sorel maybe?

Vine Maple leaves. A shrub/tree that only grows wild in far western North America.

Big Leaf Maple, another far-western species.

First time this trip seeing a creek called a slough. Thought I was down south
for a moment.

The Willamette Valley is a big grass seed production region.

Tom, a volunteer carver and Wendy, the Director of the Albany Brass Ring, a non-profit group dedicated to building a traditional Victorian Carousel to Albany, Oregon.
More info here.

The old Carnegie Library in Albany, with the two lightposts at the front door.
