Wednesday October 5, 6:00 PM
“Artists Talk on Art” Series
will feature area musician
Pat Kane
and poet
Michael Czarnecki
in a lively discussion/performance of music and poetry.
Pat and Michael have both been inspired by the geography and community of the region. Pat was born and raised in the hills of the southern tier and many of his songs reflect that heritage. Michael has lived on Wheeler Hill most of the last 20 years and that experience has been the source of much of his poetry.
How does the writing of a poem and the penning of lyrics differ? How are they alike? What is the story behind the creation of a poem such as Michael’s “Ginseng Hunter” or Pat Kane’s “Job’s Corners”? Does a poem or song with local roots connect with others when Michael and Pat present it out on the road? Come join the discussion, ask a few questions and listen to a few poems and songs.
Refreshments and informal discussion will be available after the program. (Pat will also be performing that evening in Elmira – so the gathering can be reconvened with good music and a pint or two Guinness!)
