Day 11
Leaving the campground that was home for four days. A quiet,
comfortable setting that I would certainly return to when camping
in the area again.
Round Pond Lobster Fisherman's Co-op in the fog.
Old dory with roses, dock and fog.
Intriguing information about the islands I learned at the Island
Institute in Rockland.
The Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland. Had a nice visit there
and returned later in the evening for an opening of their Impressionism
and Modernism exhibit. Another Robert Henri painting from Monhegan Island.
Henri created 25 "impressions" in four days on Monhegan in 1903. These
impressions were roughly 10 x 8 oils that have a strong feel of immediacy.
Rockwell Kent's work impressed me and I want to explore learning more about him
too. Another student of Henri.
Almost makes you want to apply, eh?
Rockport Harbor.
Sign at Rockport Harbor
Camden Harbor
Camden Library Reading Room.
Sign of the times at a gas station in Lincolnville Center.
A couple of days earlier in New Harbor at a full service station
the young man came out with a calculator to figure out how much
gas to give me for $20. A lot of the old pumps aren't set for
functioning at such high prices.
