When we first started publishing I made a commitment to not seek grant money to fund the work we do. I wanted poetry to stand on its own and not be beholden to foundations, government or private corporations. Needless to say, it has been a struggle over these 20 years, and still is. Paper,  gasoline, expenditures in general have gone up and poetry is still . . . poetry . . . not quite the same sales appeal as Nora Roberts or Danielle Steele.</div> <bR> <div> I have wrestled with the idea of asking for help from individuals. I have done so in a private way once in awhile over the years but have never put out a public request or offering. There is something stubborn and independent in my nature that makes that a hard thing for me to do. But, as costs have risen and concerns, small but persistant, about FootHills' viability linger, I have decided to offer a way for individuals to help support our work that I am comfortable with. </div> <bR> <div> I would like to offer two categories of support for the press. Both would be reimbursed by receiving FootHills Publishing books and would actually be more of a subscription than a gift of support.</div> <bR> <div> 1.</div> <div> For an annual donation of $100 a supporter would be able to order a </div> <div> FootHills Publishing book every other month. </div> <bR> <div> 2.</div> <div> For an annual donation of $200 a supporter would be able </div> <div> to order a book a month from our list.</div> <bR> <div> Our book prices range from $6 to $20 per book, plus shipping, so a supporter could come very close to receiving the same dollar value in books as the amount they donated.</div> <bR> <div> This is a way of accepting support for the press I would be comfortable with. I want to return value to anyone who chooses to help us in our endeavors.
